Creating Acount + Document 1. 1. 1

Onshape Plans

Before we get into the MEAT of the tutorial, first you need to get Onshape (If you already have an account, skip to this paragraph). If you are student, you can sign up for a free account or if your looking to buy an account, you can find these options at Onshape.com. (Side note: you can still get Onshape for free without being a student, you will just have less recources at your disposle and all documents are public.)

Document + File Creation

Once you have your account, you will have access to your library. To create a document, click the blue "create" button in the top left of your screen. From the dropdown, select the folder and name it "MEAT Tutorials" and press create. Now, select "Document" from the dropdown, name your document "First 3D Model", select the folder you just created before and click create.

Workspace Units

Now that were in the document, the first thing we ALWAYS want to check is that our workspace units are have the proper parameters. Ensure that the "length default unit" is set to inches and the accuracy is to 3 decimals. Click the 3 lined dashes at the top left of the screen and select the dropdown named "workspace units." At the bottom of your screen, you should see a part studio and assembelly. Name the part studio, "Cube" and press enter. Now we are ready to make our sketch.

In the next tutorial, we will learn some basic controls in your studios. If you have any questions about the tutorial, you can reach out to us at contact@meatecs.com
