Fillets and Chamfers 1. 3. 1

Fillets On Faces

In this tutorial, we will being adding the fillet feature to some parts that already exist. For the first part, open up your first 3D model and make a copy of part by selecting the part at the bottom of the screen and clicking "Duplicate". Name the duplicate "Cube+Fillet" and press enter. Then, select the "fillet feature" from the top bar and select all sides of the square except the top and bottom to have the fillet be applied. Lastly, set the radius as 0.25". This will round and edges that are adjacent to the faces selected.

Fillet On Edges

For this part, open up the gusset we made in the last chapter. Select the fillet feature but this time, isntead of selecting the faces, select the edges highlighted in the image. Set the radius to 0.25".

Equal Distance Chamfer

There are 3 primary ways to go about making the chamfers on your part: Equal distance, Two Distances and Distance and Angle. The first thing to note about all of them is they work very similiar to the fillet in taht you can either select a face or an edge to apply the chamfer. Equal distance is the easiest and only requires the distance. in this case, with another copy of the cube named "Cube Chamfer pt.1", select any edge with the chamfer feature and set it to a distance of 1".

Fillet On Edges

Make another copy of the cube and name it "Cube Chamfer pt.2". First, select the "Two Distances" option from the chamfer type and input 1" for one value and 0.5" for the other value. You can use the "Opposite Direction" button to swap where each measurement is and click the green checkmark to finish that chamfer. Now were going to use the "Distance and Angle" type. Input 1" for distance and 75 degrees for angle and click the green checkmark to finish the chamfer.
